Hotels embrace
digital identity technology
to optimize operational processses and lower business costs.

The demand for facial recognition technology has grew significantly in the hotel industry. Let’s look at a case study and explore how ShareRing’s solution
can improve your hotel's adaptability to the digital age.

Industry Challenges

According to a study conducted by Oracle, approximately 72% of hotel operators anticipate implementing facial recognition technology by 2025. It is inevitable for hotels to adapt in order to remain competitive. However, implementation of such major changes entails a significant price tag

Let's use an example of a company that operates 1,000 hotels globally. On average, the cost of a reliable facial recognition system is approximately $15,000 per installation. Assuming each hotel installs two of these devices at the check-in counter, the expense would amount to $30,000 per hotel.

When multiplied by the total number of hotels (1,000), the total cost reaches a staggering $30,000,000 (not counting the maintenance cost). Undoubtedly, the costs associated with these implementations can be quite high.

To many hotels, the cost is unreasonably high or even unaffordable. Other challenges that they face…

Unavoidable Costs

Expensive overheads will
severely affect hotel’s profitability

Slow Check-In Process

Check-in for guests on average takes
10 minutes plus, which fails to meet the
modern consumer's needs.

Identity Fraud

Reception desk staff are not fully
equipped nor trained to identify
fraudulent IDs.

Challenges can be solved by

How it helps

Greatly
reduced cost

ShareRing's solution incentivizes
hotels to collect only the minimum amount of information from their guests. Hotels pay only for the information they receive.

Automate
Hotel-Guest Management Process

Staff no longer need to spend their time with manual tasks, instead they can focus on delivering high quality customer experiences and let the technology handle the identity verification.

Enhanced
Data-Protection

Guests share their booking information with the hotel through a private encrypted channel, accessible only by selected staff members. The hotel is also incentivized to collect as little guest data as possible, minimizing the size of their guest database and effectively lowering risks associated with hacks.

Reduce
Check-In / Out processing time

Digitize the check-in process with an intuitive and simple QR code. Guests scan the QR code and less than 2 seconds, their
booking information is all ready for check-in.

How it can be applied

1

Step 1

Setup a QR code using the VQL Platform and list out all required information from hotel-guests which are guest name, passport number, nationality and home address. You can either post the QR code near the counter or share it to your guests when they check-in.

2

Step 2

Have your guests download the app beforehand, verify their passport and fill in their contact details.

3

Step 3

The guest scans the QR code when they arrive and approve for access to required information.

After your staff confirms that the guest has shared the required information (previously setup via VQL platform), they can take the guest to their room.

*All guests information are held and controlled inside their own app and will never be stored in any database. Without the permission from the guests, all their information will never be accessible by anyone.
